Sudanese Leadership Keen to See Improved Ethio-Sudan Relations ADDIS
ABABA, October 25 (WIC) - Sudanese President General Omar Hassan Al Beshir said the Sudanese leadership and himself personally are eager to see the consolidation of Ethio-Sudanese relations, a Sudanese newspaper reported, In
a statement he made while receiving from an Ethiopian emissary a message sent from Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, General Al Beshir expressed satisfaction that Ethio-Sudanese relations have survived a crisis period and is moving
towards improvement. According to the newspaper Al-Bayan, the visiting Ethiopian official also handed a similar message from the Ethiopian Government to Dr. Ali Al Haj, deputy secretary of the Secretariat of the National
Congress.Dr. Ali Haj on the occasion expressed profound thanks to the Government of Ethiopia for sending a high level delegation to participate in the Sudanese ruling party's constitutional National Congress.
Meanwhile, Sudanese ambassador to Ethiopia, Osman Al-Sayed, told another Sudanese newspaper Al Sahafi Al Dawli that the positive response of the Ethiopian Government to the invitation of the Sudanese National Congress and its
dispatch of a high-level delegation to the Congress demonstrate the progress being made in cementing Ethio-Sudanese relations. The Ethiopian delegation leader during the visit expressed the keen desire of his
government to see the strengthening of relations between Ethiopia and the Sudan as part of the effort to achieve common goals and to realise peace and stability in the region. The Sudanese press also reported that as
both countries have kept all channels of communication and dialogue open even during the crisis period, there are clear signs of progress being made in improving bilateral relations. |
