149 Out of 605 Persons Test HIV Positive

Bahir Dar, Oct. 21 (WIC) - Out of the 605 persons who visited the various laboratories of health establishments in Amhara State last year for AIDS examination, 149 tested HIV positive, health officials disclosed.  According to Ato Iyayu Kefiyalew, head of the blood test laboratory in Bahir Dar, the virus carriers are between the ages of 15 and 35 and are mostly students or housewives.

Ato Iyayu also disclosed that during tests last year, a total of 172 people tested HIV positive out of the total of 205 people that came for AIDS examinations.
