Youth March/Vigil to be staged in Memory of Those Who Died of HIV/AIDS

Addis Ababa, December 5 (WIC) - A March and vigil event in memory of those who died of HIV/AIDS and to make a public call to action by youth will be staged in the capital tomorrow.

According to information from UNICEF in the event organized by the Addis Ababa HIV/AIDS Council in collaboration with the United Nations Children Fund, 10,000 children will assemble at Meskel Square beginning at 3:00 P.M. and March to the Economic Commission for Africa, where they will deliver their message to Heads of State, U.N. Secretary General and Heads of U.N. Agencies attending the ADF Conference, through the UNICEF Executive Director Carol Bellany.

The vigil members of the youth groups will light candles outside the Africa Hall, with Messages from Heads of State to the Children to be conveyed by the UNICEF Executive Director or a representative.

Highlight of the event tomorrow also includes, music and drama performance by Save Your Generation group, sensitizing youth to HIV/AIDS prevention measures.
