The species is a small shrub that
flowers From June to August. Fruits are available from mid June to end
of July. Fruits are black when ripe.

Roots are edible. Roots are eaten
raw after removing the outer cover. Mostly children collect the roots.
They also consume it in normal times. But when food shortage occurs, the
fruit is eaten by everybody.
