news.gif (4310 bytes)Ethiopia has passed through the millinium bug successfully. Report compiled by Birru Dori, National Y2K Project manager

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia through the National Y2K Technical Committee (NYTC) has been working since July 1998 to address the Y2K problems at national levels.

On November 1999, the NYTC has presented its final report to the government after assessing the organizations critical to the national economy and security. Among the covered institutions Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Construction and Business Bank, Ethiopian Airlines Enterprise, Ethiopian Customs Authority, Ethiopian Mapping Authority, Ethiopian Telecommunication Corporation, and National Bank of Ethiopia are ready as of October 1999.

The report states that all the critical organizations have completed the remediations of their critical functions so that  there will be no business discontinuity at the mission critical systems, so that  the National Y2K Readiness Project has promissed to the public at large as there is no disruptions in a day to day activity.

This has been proved by the real world of the problem. For news you can visit this page.
