THE FUTURE
GCMS is
actively planning to build for the future on the strong foundation described in the
preceding pages.The College aims to be flexible and sensitive to
the health manpower need
of the country as well as to national and international
agenda.GCMS will continue to be
responsive, too, to internal and external views on the nature
and content of the programmes
it delivers and remain active in meeting identified needs for
training, service, research and
consultancy.
The College is at present
undertaking various project for expansion of its activities:
Construction of new library, student dormitory, classrooms and science
laboratories.
The College will increase
its students enrolment by 1/3 by the year 2000 when these
capacity expansion
projects are completed.
- The College has recently organized computer and
information technology centre
with the intention of integrating interactive teaching and evidence based medicine
in its teaching methods by the year 2000.
Relevant planning groups have produced preliminary documents to start new teaching
programmes in the fields of
pharmacy (diploma) Anatomy (M.Sc.), Physiotherapy (Diploma),
Clinical epidemiology
(M.Sc.) which will be certainly launched during the 2000/2001
academic year.
Preliminary survey is underway to start extension programmes (night school) in five of
its training disciplines.
This
responsiveness will develop the college to an ever integrated multidisciplinary and
inter-professional entity.
