Ethiopia Comes out Victorious on Diplomatic Front: Scholar 

   Addis Ababa, June 24 (ENA)--The cessation of hostilities pact signed between Ethiopia and Eritrea confirms the political and diplomatic victory of Ethiopia and complies with the country’s national interests, says a high profile scholar.

        Professor Andrias Eshete said here on Saturday, the agreement empowered Ethiopia, the undisputed victor on the military front, to control Eritrean high grounds to defend itself from any provocation.

        The law lecturer at the Addis Ababa University said the signing of the pact brings big victory to Ethiopia , adding that the agreement recognizes Ethiopia’s right of free military movement along  the border.

        Professor Andrias said the establishment of a 25-kilometer buffer zone inside Eritrean territory gives security guarantee to  Ethiopia.

         He said, it was in line with Ethiopia’s interests that the agreement sanctioned Ethiopia to remain where it had made military advances in Eritrea until the deployment of a un peace keeping mission .

          He said Eritrea was once again vanquished on the diplomatic front following the signing of the agreement after Ethiopia had secured its sovereignty and territorial integrity by launching a swift military offensive against the invading enemy troops.

                   Asmara is spending its   Entire meager resources on building its defense capacity aimed at invading neighboring countries, he said, adding this trend of the hawkish regime should be stopped once and for all.

          The Ethiopian government added honor and grace to the nation as it relentlessly stood for a peaceful resolution of the conflict besides its commendable leadership in reversing the unprovoked aggression, he said.
