Association To Undertake 14 Million Birr Projects In Oromiya

Addis Ababa, July 30(ENA)-- The Oromiya Development Association and four bureaus of the state administration signed here on Wednesday an agreement providing for undertaking development projects valued at 14 million Birr in various parts of the state in the coming three years.

According to the agreement, the association would carry out development activities in the areas of food security and reproductive health in five zones in the state, among others.

The association has signed the agreement with the state Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Commission, Irrigation Development Authority, Agricultural Development and Health Bureaus.

Some 12 of the stated sum would be spent on the construction of small-scale irrigation dams, extension programs, livestock development, soil and water conservation activities in Jarso locality of East Harerge Zone.

The balance would be used for carrying out reproductive health program, prevention of venereal diseases and harmful traditional practices in East and West Wellega, Illubabor and Jimma Zones.

About 4.6 million people in the zones are expected to benefit from the projects.
