Government will facilitate settlement of returnees: Addisu (Corrected Version)

Addis Ababa, July 19(ENA)--The Ethiopian government would facilitate the settlement of its citizens currently living in the Sudan should they want to return and start a new life through their own effort, Deputy Minister and Minister of Rural Development said.

Addisu Legesse said the Ethiopian government would render every assistance to citizens living abroad and who wish to return with a vision to work and live in their native land.

The deputy minister so remarked on Friday while he met and discussed with members of the Ethiopian community in Khartoum.

There has always been a strong relation between Ethiopia and the Sudan, Addisu said, adding Sudan was a second home to many Ethiopians during the dictatorial Derg regime, when the regime was engaged in massacring its own citizens.

The deputy minister said that the Ethiopian Embassy in Khartoum would henceforth arrange ways of conferring with the community to address problems of some kind they might encounter.

The Ethiopian delegation led by the deputy Prime Minister has completed its four-day visit to the Sudan and returned home late on Friday.
