African Nations Cup suspended nine African players, four of them Ethiopians
Addis Ababa,July 15(ENA)--In a meeting held at CAF headquarters in Egypt on Monday, headed by CAF President Issa Hayatou, the African Nations Cup organizing committee ratified the list of players suspended for various offences committed during the competition elimination series.
According the news posted on CAF website, Dawit Mebratu was suspended for 2 years from all CAF Competitions for holding the central referee by the neck with both hands during Liberia versus Ethiopia match on June 8, 2003.
Mamo Alem Shanko was also suspended for 1 year from all CAF Competitions for pushing the central referee after being sent off and then spitting on the 1st assistant referee,while Anteneh Alamrew was suspended for 1 year from all CAF Competitions for spitting on the second assistant at the same match. The fourth player from Ethiopia who was suspended for 2 matches for insulting the referee is Bayu Mulu.
During Cape Verde versus Mauritanian match on June 21, 2003 Boubou Ndiaye from Mauritania was suspended for One year from all CAF Competitions for hitting the referee.
Mohamed Khouna from Mauritania was also suspended for one year from all CAF Competitions for the kicking the referee Dabo Ahmed from Mauritania suspended for 2 matches for using abusive language on the referee.
Luis Agustini from Libya was suspended for 1 year from all CAF Competitions for hitting the assistant referee during Congo DR versus Libya match on June 22, 2003
Kevin Tamboulas from Central Africa was suspended for 2 year from all CAF Competitions for kicking the 4th official during Mozambique versus Central Africa on June 22, 2003.
