City Council Stresses Need to Mitigate Problems of Teachers, Schools
Addis Ababa, July14(ENA)--The Addis Ababa City Transitional Council underscored the need to continue efforts aimed at mitigating the existing problems of teachers and schools here in the metropolis.
In its statement sent to ENA, the council said the conference being carried out at various parts of the city attaches due attention to measures to be taken in the next Ethiopian academic year with a view to improving situations of teachers and schools.
It said foreign and national security policy strategy and cost sharing in education were some of the agendas of the conferences.
Teachers have a pivotal role and responsibility in producing skilled manpower to ensure development, peace and democracy in the country, it said.
The statement said similar forums should also be created to students. parents and other stakeholders to enable them to share ideas.
The council also pledged to do everything in its power to improve situations for teachers in particular and that of the education system in general.
According to the statement, the teachers' conferences would last one week.
