Official urges scholars to unite on common national agenda

Addis Ababa, July 18(ENA)--President of the Oromia State Government has called upon scholars to contribute their share in the efforts deployed to build a common national development vision.

Junedin Sado said intellectuals were duty-bound to play a key role in bringing a common consensus on national issues and policies designed to beat backwardness and improve the living style of the public at large.

Junedin was speaking here on Thursday at the opening of a 21-day discussion forum organized for Alamaya University as well as Adama and Ambo Colleges' instructors here on Thursday.

The official said scholars shoulder a hefty responsibility to produce capable citizens who could actively participate in the nation building process.

Junedin also urged the scholars to take advantage of the prevailing democratic system in the country and freely forward their inputs essential for the nation's socio-economic progress.
