Ministry refutes BBC's report on request of EU for inquiry
Addis Ababa, July 17(ENA)-- The Ethiopian ministry of foreign affairs has refuted the BBC report on 16 July 2002 claiming that the European Union (EU) has demanded a public inquiry into the recent disturbances in the south Ethiopia peoples’ state.
An official with the ministry told ENA on Wednesday that it’s true that a meeting was held with the Addis Ababa-based representatives of the EU, adding but that didn’t mean some one is allowed to interfere in the internal affairs of the country and give instructions about what to do and not.
It is highly unlikely to assume that the European Union would be engaged in arguments detrimental to the existing relations and dialogue with Ethiopia, he said.
The official, however, said the Ethiopian government has given sufficient explanation about the issue previously.
