President Girma takes leave of Polish Ambassador
Addis Ababa July 11(ENA)--Ethiopia is the only country in Africa receiving the Poland government's foreign aid package, the departing Polish Ambassador to Ethiopia said.
Ambassador Krzysztof Suprowicz made the remark here on Thursday while bidding farewell to his five-year Ambassadorial tenure to Ethiopia.
The Ambassador told President Girma Woldegiorgis that Poland was ready to share its agricultural expertise and establish industries in Ethiopia.
The Yemen-based Ambassador said the Polish government was planning to reopen its Embassy in Ethiopia, which it closed few years ago, adding Poland will send a permanent diplomatic mission soon to Addis Ababa in a bid to revitalizing the bilateral relations with Ethiopia.
Ethiopia has been exporting products valued at up to 26 million Dollars to Poland in the context of the Ethio-Polish trade relations, he said, adding, recently, however, the export value decreased due to the slump in the price of coffee in the world market.
Poland has cancelled 80 per cent of the debt it owed to Ethiopia and agreed to use the remaining 20 per cent for the reopening of its Embassy here, according to a senior official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
President Girma said Ethiopia hopes to receive increased assistance from Poland in the agriculture sector, the official said.
