House endorses over 17.2 billion Birr budget for next fiscal year
Addis Ababa, July 4(ENA)--The House of Peoples' Representatives has approved on Thursday the 1995 Ethiopian fiscal year budget that amounts to over 17.2 billion Birr.
Over 10.5 billion Birr of the budget would be secured from inland revenue whereas over 2.6 billion, 3.5 billion and 500 million Birr would be obtained from external assistance as well as external and internal loans respectively, the budget and finance affairs standing committee of the House said.
It is projected that the federal government's income in 1995 Ethiopian budget year would exceed that of the 1994 fiscal year by 12.2 percent, the committee said.
The committee said it is envisaged that a total of over 12.3 billion Birr would be collected from the federal government regular income, counterpart fund and projects' assistance.
Of the stated budget over 7.3 billion Birr and over 3.8 billion Birr were recurrent and capital budgets respectively while 6.4 billion Birr was subsidy for regional states and administrations, it said.
The committee said 3.9 million Birr capital budget has been earmarked to execute 342 existing and 84 new projects in 1995 Ethiopian budget year.
Meanwhile, the House also accepted the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission and the Office of Ombudsman candidate nomination committees' proposal to present their nominees during the next fiscal year.
In its today's session the House has also approved with only one abstention the report and recommendation presented to it by law and administration as well as women and social affairs standing committees on the African Children Rights and Welfare Charter.
