Adigrat July 30, (ENA)--The Ethiopian defense forces are determined as ever before to defend the territorial integrity of the nation and abide by the supreme law of the land, members of the army at the Zalambessa and Adigrat areas said.

They said the renewal movement currently underway in the country is timely and would be instrumental in accelerating economic development and social progress.

Members of the army told ENA recently that the national army organized in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the constitution has the capacity and the stamina to defend the nation from any aggression.

The capacity and strength of the national army come from the strong support they enjoy from the peoples of Ethiopia and the federal government.

They have also requested the people to repeat their unity and resolve in the economic development as they had displayed their unwavering commitment in defense of the nation.

They also said the renewal process underway in the country has great significance in setting new vision and strengthening the democratization process.

The government should also intensify taking measures against corruption, anti democratic practices as well as nepotism, which they said are the major stumbling blocks to expedite economic and social development in the country.
