66th anniversary of Ethiopian martyrs' day observed
Addis Ababa, Feb.19(ENA)--The 66th anniversary of the Ethiopian martyrs' day, which marks the massacre of tens of thousands of metropolitans by the fascist Italian troops, was observed across the nation on Wednesday.
Here in the capital the event was marked at the martyrs' square in the presence of the metropolitans and members of the Ethiopian Patriots Association.
Mayor of Addis Ababa, Arkebe Equbay, laid wreaths at the Yikatit 12 martyrs' monument on behalf of inhabitants of the capital.
The brass band of the Federal Police have played tunes befitting the occasion. A one- minute silennce was also observed in honour of the dead.
Meanwhile, a prayer was held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral and the grand Anwar mosque in remembrance of the martyrs.
