Addis Ababa, Feb.18(ENA)--'Adwa: An African Victory,' the film produced by the internationally acclaimed Ethiopian film director, Prof. Haile Gerima is due to be featured for the first time in Ethiopia on 1st and 2nd March 2003 here at the National Theatre, Mypheduh Films Inc. said on Tuesday.

The theme of the film focused on the significance of the Battle of Adwa, that gave courage and an inspiration for organized resistance and strategic alliances among liberation forces throughout the continent, accoring to a press release issued by the company.

The distributor of African and Afro-American Films, Mypheduh Films Inc., said Adwa: An African Victory has been premiered in USA, Europe and Canada, where it gauged successful reviews, and plenty of audience.

The film has earned the "Surprise hit" status with audiences and press, at the prestigious Venice Film Festival where Prof. Haile received praise for his fresh interpretation of the Battle of Adwa.

Ethiopian Patriots, national dignitaries, diplomats, international agencies and artists, among others, would attend the premier of the film at the National Theatre on 1st March, the eve of the Commemoration Day.

The 107th year commemoration of the Victory of Adwa would be observed on March 2, 2003.
