Success of AU Summit lauded
Addis Ababa, Feb. 13(ENA)--Ambassador of the Sudan to Ethiopia and Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps expressed appreciation to Ethiopia for hosting the first extraordinary Summit of the AU with much success and cordial reception.
Ambassador Osman Al Seyyid in a letter to Foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin said that all participants were satisfied in the successful manner the Summit was concluded, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.
On behalf of the African Resident Ambassadors and on his behalf, the Sudanese Ambassador expressed admiration for Ethiopia for its efforts for the success of the Summit from preparations and all through the sessions.
In a related development, president of the Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions (CETU), Amare Alemayehu expressed happiness that Ethiopia was elected to be the seat of the AU as it had been the seat of the OAU for forty years, and that the country hosted the historic first extraordinary Summit.
Foreign Minister Seyoum on his part expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the African Diplomatic Corps in the successful conclusion of the extraordinary Summit
He said the success was the result of joint efforts, the release said.
Seyoum Mesfin also expressed gratitude for the role CETU played in the successful conduct of the Summit.
He called on all Ethiopians to join hands for effectively discharge the responsibility of hosting the headquarters of the AU, the release said.
