Cement factory begins export to Sudan
Mekele, February 8(ENA)-- The Mesobo cement factory in the Tigray State has transported the first package of cement export to the Sudan amounting to 10,000 quintals.
An agreement was signed earlier with the Government of the Sudan that enables the factory to export 200,000 quintals of cement in the year 2003 alone.
The first export release was sent to the Sudan by trucks on the recently inaugurated Ethio-Sudan transboundary highway.
According to factory deputy general manager, Yemane Teshome, conducive trade relations have been forged between Ethiopia and the Sudan.
He said, Sudan has two cement factories that can meet only 15 per cent of the country's demand for the product.
"This means we have wide market in the Sudan," he said.
Meanwhile, the factory was expanding sales in various parts of the country, he indicated.
