Egypt, Tunisia cherishes amicable relations with Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, February 4(ENA)-- Egyptian and Tunisian Foreign Ministers said cooperations with Ethiopia have been gaining momentum.

The Foreign Ministers said their respective Governments' relations with Ethiopia were on the basis of mutual benefits, concern and understanding.

 

 

The Foreign Ministers, who were in Addis Ababa to attend the AU extra-ordinary summit, made the remarks here on Monday after holding separate talks with Ethiopian Foreign Minister, Seyoum Mesfin.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher said that the Nile-basin initiative, which has brought Ethiopia and Egypt and other riparian countries together, could help deepen economic cooperation.

He said the establishment of African Union would also enable to reduce poverty and hasten economic development and integration in the region.

Maher further expressed his Government's conviction that Ethiopia, being a seat for the newly established African Union, would contribute a lot to realize the noble causes of the Union.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister seized the occasion to invite his Ethiopian counterpart to visit Egypt. Foreign Minister Seyoum has accepted the invitation.

Tunisian Foreign Minister Ben Yahia said on his part that his Government's bilateral ties with Ethiopia was being strengthened in a multi-faceted areas of cooperation.

The Governments of the two countries review the implementation of their bilateral cooperation agreements on a regular basis, he said.
