AU Conference Center to be inaugurated on Monday

Addis Ababa, February 2(ENA)-- The New African Union (AU) conference center built with an outlay of over 11 million US Dollars would be officially inaugurated on Monday, according to information obtained from the AU Commission.

The inaugural ceremony would be conducted prior to the opening of the first Extra-ordinary Summit of the Assembly of the African Union in the presence of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, AU Interim Chairperson, Amara Essy and African heads of State and government.

The conference center whose construction was launched fours years ago lies on the premises of the Headquarters of the former Organization of the African Unity (OAU).

The building comprises various conference rooms and offices.

Member States of the AU covered the construction cost of the conference center.
