Ethiopia Supports African Labor, Social Affairs Commission Meet in Ouagadougou: Girma

Addis Ababa, Feb. 18 (ENA)--President Girma Wolde Giorgis announces Ethiopia's commitment to support the African Labor and Social Affairs Commission meeting scheduled to be held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso from April 16 to May 1st this year.

President Girma made the announcement here on Monday while receiving a delegation led by Alain Ludovic, Chairman of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Governing Body and Minister of Social Affairs of Burkina Faso.

During discussions with the delegation, President Girma said Ethiopia will provide support for the success of the 25th Commission meeting organized by ILO and hosted by Burkina Faso.

A senior official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted Girma as saying that the delegation that Ethiopia has launched viragos campaigns against poverty and various other forms of social problems.

He said addressing the issues of gender and children's affairs were given due attention.

After the meeting with the President, Allain Lodovic in an interview with journalists said his delegation was soliciting support for the Commission's meeting in which Ethiopia will take part.

The meeting will have agenda related to poverty reduction and employment generation.

Meanwhile, President Girma on Monday received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of Yugoslavia to Ethiopia, Vladmir boricic.

Girma told Boricic that the relations between Ethiopia and Yugoslavia would be improved step by step.

The newly appointed Ambassador told journalists that his country was desirous to upgrade the trade and investment relations with Ethiopia.

The diplomatic relations between Ethiopia and Yugoslavia dates back to the year 1952.
