Official urges Tigray people to maintain fruits of TPLF popular struggle

Addis Ababa, Feb. 18 (ENA)--Head of the Tigray State Administration has called on the Tigray people to preserve the victories they gained through the leadership of the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) and actively involve in the efforts geared towards beating poverty.

Tsegaye Berhe said the Tigray people should uphold the fruits of the bitter struggle and move ahead to register yet another victories in the socio-economic sector.

Tsegaye was speaking at a ceremony held in Adigrat town on Monday in connection with the 27th anniversary of the beginning of TPLF's popular struggle against the 'derg' regime.

The government alone could not alleviate all the socio-economic problems of the society, he said and urged the people of the state to actively participate in the reconstruction of development institutions be lighted by Eritrea's war of aggression.

More than 50,000 people in the town from all walks of life attended the ceremony.

Similarly, over 15,000 people in Mekele town gathered at the Mekele stadium to celebrate the event.
