Board allows Ethiopians in Diaspora to bring automobiles free of tax
Addis Ababa, Feb 14 (ENA)--Ethiopians who lived for five years and above in foreign countries have been entitled to the right to bring their own private automobiles free of tax, the federal board of revenues said.
The board said the Ethiopians entitled to the right should possess passport from the Ethiopian embassy and residence permit of that country.
It said Ethiopians who have been out of the country for one year due to various reasons and willing to return to their country can bring their automobiles by paying the necessary taxation.
The board said the measure was taken to encourage Ethiopians living in the Diaspora to return home and take part in the nation building process.
It said, however, the rumor that was being disseminated by some circles suggesting that the revised regulations have been reversed was unfounded and baseless.
