Ethiopia, Britain sign 30 Mln. pound sterling agreement
Addis Ababa,Feb. 06(ENA)--Ethiopia and the Britain signed a 30 million-pound sterling cooperation agreement here on Wednesday.
State minister of finance and economic development Dr. Mulu ketsela said on the occasion that the stated sum would be used for ensuring food security, expansion of education and capacity building.
She said nine million pound of the stated sum would be released in 2002 while the balance in the years ahead.
The bilateral agreement between the two countries was interrupted due to Ethio-Eritrea conflict, she said, adding that consultations made to bring the accord back on track was very successful.
Mr.Barrie Ireton, Director General Department for International development (DfID) said on his part that his government would support Ethiopia's effort in various development sectors.
Dr. Mulu Ketsela and Mr. Barrie Ireton have signed the agreement.
