Egyptian official says Eastern Nile Riparian to implement agreements
Addis Ababa, Fab. 01(ENA)--The agreements reached by the Eastern Nile Riparian States is in the stage of implementation, Chairman of irrigation and agriculture committee of the senate of Egypt said.
The chairman, Engineer Ibrahim Saad Hagbas who arrived at the head of a seven- member parliamentarian delegation on Friday said the team would create enabling conditions for practicality of the agreement.
Ethiopia and Egypt have been cooperating to put in to effect the agreements on Nile basin, he said.
During the six-day stay, the high-level delegation would visit the sources of Abay and its basins as well as historical places in the Amhara, Tigray, Oromia and Gambella states.
According to the ministry of water resources, the visit of the delegation would prop up the agreement signed by Eastern Nile Riparian States. International donor and creditor agencies as well as countries have pledged support for the joint projects of the riparian sates, the ministry said.
Minster of water resources, Sheferaw Jarsso and members of the House of Peoples Representatives received the delegation upon arrival at the Bole International airport.
