Great Run proceeds donated for drought affected citizens, execution of athletics village project
Addis Ababa, Dec. 20(ENA)--Financial donations have been made from the proceeds of the Great Run for citizens affected by the drought induced food shortage as well as for the implementation of the Sandafa Athletics Village Project.
Accordingly, 100,000 Birr has been given out as contribution for the drought affected citizens and another 100,000 Birr for the implementation of the athletics village project.
The donations were made at a ceremony held at the Great Run office here in Addis.
On the occasion, CEO of the Great Run Haile Gebreselassie said all the proceeds had been intended for the athletics village project originally. "But now we must redirect some amount for the humanitarian cause," he said.
Some 2000 T-shirts bearing "Value Your Life" have also been donated on the occasion in support of AIDS-orphaned children.
