Contributions for drought hit citizens continue to pour in

Region Dec. 11(ENA)--The Awassa Agriculture Development Enterprise and its employees have donated a sum amounting to more than 59,000 Birr in support of citizens affected by the drought induced food shortage.

Accordingly, the office of the enterprise donated 50,000 Birr while its labor union contributed 2,000 Birr, management members 2,294 Birr and the employees 4,811 Birr, the office said.

Similarly, workers of the Merabete Woreda finance and planning office decided to give 5 percent while those of the Bule Woreda administration in Borena zone pledged 10 percent of their one month salary for the same cause.

Muslims in Hagere Mariam town also raised 1,200 Birr while those in Negele town contributed 719 Birr.

Administration staff and teachers of the Arba Minch Secondary School, the Technical and Vocational Training Institute as well as the Kulfo Elementary school decided to donate funds ranging from 5 to 10 percent of their salary.

Workers and teachers in Adi Arkay Woreda of North Gondar zone have also pledged upto 10 percent of their salary for the same purpose.
