Germany provides additional 13 million Birr for immediate food aid

Addis Ababa, December 10(ENA)-- The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has provided 1.5 million Euro (13 million Birr) to alleviate the effects of the prevailing drought in Ethiopia.

According to a press release issued by the German Embassy here on Tuesday, with this new commitment the total volume of German emergency assistance for the year 2002 has now reached the level of 62 million Birr.

The grant forms the second allocation to efforts of the World Food Program (WFP) to purchase food urgently needed in the affected areas, the release said.
