Donations for drought-hit compatriots continue to pour in
Addis Ababa, Dec. 4(ENA)--Some 11 governmental and non governmental organizations have donated a sum of 843, 796 Birr for citizens affected by the drought induced food shortage. Workers of the Ethiopian Tourism Commission have pledged to donated 10 to 20 percent of their one month salary.
Accordingly, the Dashen Bank and employees have handed over a donation amounting to 250,000 Birr, the Ethiopian Olympic Committee 200,000 Birr, the Addis Ababa Police Commission 180,000 Birr, the Addis Tyre Share Company 53,089 Birr and inmates 33,935 Birr to the Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Commission.
Similarly, the labor union of the Kaliti Metal Factory handed over 32,751 Birr, Warit Mulu Tila International 20,000 Birr, Winrok International and employees 13,000 Birr, among others, to Commissioner Simon Mechale.
In a related development, the management and workers of the Ethiopian Tourism Commission have pledged to contribute 10 to 20 percent of their one month salary for the same purpose.
