Bethlehem Elementary School Wins UNESCO Prestigious Award
Addis Ababa Dec 22/94 (ENA)--The Bethlehem Elementary school has won an international Peace Pillar Award of the Associated Schools Project Network of the UN Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The Bethlehem school won the UNESCO award after competing with schools worldwide, the Ethiopian Embassy in Paris, France said.
The Embassy told ENA on Friday that the school presented a successful human rights project under the umbrella of the International Year for the Culture of Peace 2000.
The school's project involve students, teachers and the community under the umbrella of peace, it said.
It also strengthened the principle of " learning to know, to do, to be and to live together" which are the major guidance of the International Commission on Education for the Twenty-first Century.
UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network was started in Ethiopia in February 1996 and has now embraced 72 educational institutions.
