Over 250,000 Birr secured in tourism revenues from visitors to Tis Abbay, Lake Tana Archipelagoes

Bahir Dar, April.23(ENA)--More than 250,000 Birr has been secured in tourism revenues from visitors who came to see attractions near the town of Bahir Dar, the Amhara State's Tourism Commission has announced.

The reported income was obtained from tourists who visited Tis Abbay, a scenic fall that smokes, and the Lake Tana Archipelagoes over the past nine months, Commissioner Fasil Ayehu told ENA.

The tourism revenue from the reported sites showed a twofold increase from that of last year same period, he indicated. More than 7,000 foreign and more than 11,000 local tourists visited the attractions during the stated period.

Meanwhile,data on the number of tourists coming to the various attractions in the State remained difficult to obtain due to lack of an integrated system, information made available by the Commission indicates.
