Handel's 'Messiah' staged here, proceeds for Emperor Tewodros's bust erection
Addis Ababa,Apr.22(ENA)--AFROMET chairperson Professor Andrias Eshete says a series of fund raising events will be held for the erection of emperor Tewodros's bust.
The Amharic version of Handel's "Messiah" and "Halellujah" concert was staged by Professor Ephrem Yishak and expatriate residents here at the Cultural Hall on Wednesday.
The proceeds of the concert will be used for the erection of the monument and that of a similar event scheduled on Friday for a scholarship project in support of students from poor families.
AFROMET will carry out various fund raising events in various places in the country including Emperor's birth place Gondar and abroad, Professor Andrias said.
Wednesday's concert include "Messiah" and 'Halellujah" composition of the famous 18th century composer Handel, which Professor Andrias translated into Amharic 40 years ago.
Government officials, diplomats, Ethiopians and expatriates attended the concert.
