HIV/AIDS campaigners sensitize 10,000 people at one stop in Jimma
Addis Ababa, April.21(ENA)--Members of Dawn of Hope Ethiopia, an association of people living with HIV/AIDS, have provided HIV/AIDS sensitization to over 10,000 people at one stop in a Save the Generation educational tour.
The association members in three groups were touring three directions separately to south west, eastern and northern parts of the country to educate people to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and stop stigma and discrimination against people living with the virus.
The journey was also aimed at encouraging people living with the virus to come out public and join the anti-HIV/AIDS campaigns and also at encouraging people to know their sero status, Education, Information and Communication department head with the association, Tesfu Mengesha said.
Some 18 members of the association who took it to the southwestern educational tours delivered messages to residents of Jimma town, teachers and students at the Jimma stadium.
Meanwhile, the Chiro woreda of West Harerghe zone, Oromia State, said 56,569 residents of the woreda had been offered education aimed at raising awareness on HIV/AIDS.
Office head, Abiti Menza told ENA Tuesday that the education was conducted at 53 localities of the woreda.
