EPRDF calls on public to actively participate in nation building process
Addis Ababa,Aug. 30(ENA)--The Council of the Ethiopian Peoples' Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) in its three-day conference has evaluated the Front's performance during this Ethiopian year and approved its plan of actions for the next year.
According to a statement the Front sent to ENA on Friday the Council said various measures would be taken to further consolidate the Front's over all activities next year.
Due significance would be given to strengthening Kebele administrations and enhance the participation of the rural people in the development endeavors, the Council said.
It said utmost efforts would be exerted to accelerate agricultural and other related developments in rural areas and address the dependency tendencies in rural administrations that adversely affect the farmer.
All development activities would be made known to the public regularly, it said, adding that efforts would be exerted to promote transparent and accountable working procedures.
All-out activities would be carried out to shore up educational administration as well as to maintain the quality of education and fully incorporate the civic and ethical education in the curriculum, the Council indicated.
The government would do its level best to expand vocational and technical training as well as to raise the enrollment capacity of higher learning institutions, the Council noted.
It said paramount attention would be given to the building of execution capacity in a bid to effectively implement the Civil Service Reform Program.
Efforts towards improving the judiciary would also continue with more vigor next year, it said, adding that the government would strive to establish judges and prosecutors training institutes.
Priority would be given to fight dependency tendency to ensure the rule of the law and create conducive development environment in the country.
Training would be offered to the law ensuring forces to heighten their professional skills and capability of tracking down criminals, the Council said.
The Council noted with concern that the current political problems in the South Ethiopia Peoples' State were the manifestations of the fact that the renewal movement was not effectively undertaken in the region at the desired level.
Some groups with dependency attitudes were trying to sow a seed of discord among the local people to fulfill their malicious political agenda.
It is mandatory to intensify the renewal movement in the region to decisively deal with the prevailing political unrest and root out the dependency tendency that affect the declared interest of the public for peace, democracy and development.
Vigorous and extensive anti-dependency activities would be conducted to stamp out dependency inclinations in the region and remove those forces with such tendencies from EPRDF and the South Ethiopia Peoples' Democratic Front (SEPDF).
The Council said it was also necessary to build the administrative capacity of the Addis Ababa City Administration based on the relevant studies conducted
The Council called on the general public to actively participate in the nation-wide democratization process and development endeavors to build a democratic and prosperous nation.
