Over 450,000 children to be vaccinated against poliomyelitis

Addis Ababa,Aug. 24(ENA)--Over 450,00 children under the age of five in East Shoa zone of Oromia State would be vaccinated against polio during the national immunization days next Ethiopian year, the zonal health department said.

Department head, Ajeme Wegi, told ENA that children residing in 12 woredas of the zone would be inoculated against the disease.

He said there was also a plan to vaccinate 440, 478 mothers between the age group of 15 and 49 against Tetanus.

Some 1,018 medical professionals and 2,036 voluntary youths would be deployed in the 1,018 vaccination centers established in the zone, Ajeme said.
