Addis Ababa, August.20(ENA)--Prime Minister Meles Zenawi met and held talks with Dr. Ghazi S. Attabani, special envoy to the Sudanese president, Omar Hassen al-Bashir, here on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Meles and Dr. Attabani exchanged views on the Ethio-Sudanese bilateral relations and on the ongoing peace process in the Sudan, a senior official with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who attended the discussion said.

Dr. Attabani briefed Meles on the occasion about the efforts being exerted to bring about a lasting peace in Southern Sudan.

Meles said on his part that Ethiopia has a strong desire to see the successful completion of the peace process between the Sudanese government and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement/ Army (SPLM/A).

The success of Sudan's peace process has a paramount importance for the prevalence of peace and stability in the Horn of Africa, the official quoted Meles as saying.
