Bahir-Dar
August, 14 (ENA)--The Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM) has continued
deliberating on the central committee assessment report, which is part of the
on-going renewal movement of the conference since August 8.
The
conference has endorsed the evaluation report of the central committee on the
political system and the dangers posed against it after looking at length into
the report.
The
conference during deliberations has identified lack of transparency within the
central committee concerning the nature of free market economy and the
difficulties posed in building the system.
The
conference reached a consensus that this lack of transparency had remained to be
a hurdle in deploying the various communities, which are the bases of
revolutionary democracy.
Lack
of transparency within the central committee has also made it difficult to
differentiate between constructive entrepreneurship and that of illicit
investment, according to information obtained from the office of ANDM.
The
participants have commended that the constructive measures taken by the movement
to mitigate the spread of corruption has enabled to effectively utilize public
fund for its intended purposes.
The
participants have also underscored the need to strengthen the strong points
practiced and rectify weaknesses identified during the last ten years.
Meanwhile,
the participants of the conference said the news story that was disseminated by
ETV on Sunday alleging that the conference has discovered the existence of a
high-scale corruption among the executives of ANDM was "far from the
truth", which they described, as irresponsible and unprofessional.
In fact, with regard to corruption participants of the conference have
reached an agreement that there was no high-scale corruption within the
leadership of the movement and that utmost efforts were exerted to rectify minor
problems identified to that end.
The office of ANDM said on its part that the news story was misleading
and distorts the fundamental truth, adding that the movement assured the public
that this kind of unfounded information was not given by the office during the
course of the conference at any time.
The
office has also called upon pertinent bodies to take appropriate measures
against ETV and urged that the office of ANDM is the sole provider of accurate
information about the progress of the conference.
