Trade exchange between Ethiopia, Sudan gaining momentum
Addis Ababa, April 30(ENA)-- The trade exchange between the Sudan and Ethiopia has been gaining momentum after the opening of the Metema-Gadarif road, the Gadarif Provincial Governor said.
Upon the conclusion of a four-day visit to the Amhara state, the governor Dr. Abdurahman al-kedir said Ethiopia has been importing petroleum and various goods from the Sudan while Sudan also begin to import bean, coffee and other commodities from Ethiopia.
The governor said the trade exchange between the two countries has reached 40 million US Dollars over the last two months alone.
He said efforts would be made to further prop up the bilateral relations of the two countries.
The delegation led by Dr. Abdurahman Al keidr visited Tis Abbay hydro power generation-II and the lake Tana islands.
The delegation also discussed ways to set forth relation between the Gedarif and Bahir Dar Universities.
Dr. Abdurahman said efforts would be made to provide scholarships to Ethiopian Students in Gadarif University.
The governor on the occasion invited chief of the Amhara state Yosef Reta to visit Gadarif province.
Sudanese Ambassador to Ethiopia Usman al-Sayyid said the opening of the road and discussion of the delegations would contribute to the strengthening of the people to people relation of the two countries.
