Nat'l Electoral Board Chief Put Under Custody
Addis Ababa, April 29(ENA)-- The Head of the National Electoral Board, Assefa Birru Tesema was put under legal custody as of last Monday, the Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission disclosed.
Senior Ethics Counselor and Public Relations Head with the Commission said Assefa Birru was detained after being accused of abuse of power and impeding the duties of the Commission.
The Chief was accused after he had fired an individual who provided information regarding an alleged corruption to the commission, the head said.
The commission says it was forced to file suit against Assefa as he refused to reinstate the employee he has sacked.
The Commission would continue to sue those people who would take vengeance against persons who collaborate with the commission, he said.
