Industrial Strategy Helps Bring About Speedy Development: Meles
Addis Ababa, April 17(ENA)-- Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said the Industrial Development Strategy would help bring about a speedy development to the industrial sector especially to the infant industry.
Meles said the strategy would also enable private entrepreneurs to get all the necessary support including tariff protection.
The Prime Minister made the remarks on Thursday while opening a two-day meeting to discuss the newly formulated strategy.
He said the much-desired achievements could not be gained, unless the required support is provided to infant industries and entrepreneurs who are engaged in the sector.
He said tariff protection that should be given to the country's infant industries must enable them to be competent.
Meles said the Agricultural-Led Industrial Development Strategy would also enable to expand industrial sector of the economy through the development of agriculture.
It will also promote import substitution scheme by giving priority to the development of export products, Prime Minister Meles said.
Senior government officials are attending the meeting, which is presided over by Meles.
