Addis Ababa, April 15(ENA)--A committee has been set up to reorganize the Ethio-Yemen Friendship Association, the Ethiopian Embassy in San'a said.

The committee was formed after members and supporters had held in depth discussions under the premises of the Embassy on 10 April this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted the Embassy as saying.

The meeting had looked into causes for the weakening of the association and measures to be taken by members and the Embassy to revitalize the association, among other pertinent issues, the Ministry's press release sent to ENA on Tuesday said.

On the occasion, as per suggestions forwarded by participants, a 9-member management committee was organized, it said, adding, this committee is scheduled to meet this coming Saturday to deliberate on a number of pertinent issues, including on the election of executive members.

Ambassador Abdi Dolal on the occasion briefed participants about the significance of a friendship association and the role such an association plays in the modern public diplomacy.

He said, apart from helping strengthen ties between governments, a friendship association plays a vital role in bolstering people to people relations.
