Sub-regional training on disaster emergency responses gets underway
Addis Ababa, April 14(ENA)-- An African Sub-Regional training enabling the provision of quick emergency responses in the event of natural and man-made disasters was launched on Sunday in South Wollo, the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) said.
Some 37 members and volunteers drawn from eight national red cross and red crescent associations in Eastern Africa are taking part in the 10-day training, ERCS told ENA on Monday.
The training has the objective of creating national and regional capacity for the provision of meaningful responses in the event of drought, earth quake, flood and other disasters, according to the regional representative of the international red cross and red crescent federation, Mohammed Omar Mukhtar.
The training also comprise lessons on the provision of post disaster health, emergency, water supply and environmental sanitation.
