Meles Holds Discussion With Amhara State Administration Executives On Pckages
Addis Ababa, April 9(ENA)-- Prime Minister Meles Zenawi held discussion on Wednesday with the Amhara State Administration Executives on the Water Harvesting Programs and Integrated Agricultural packages being implemented currently in the state.
The discussion particularly focused mainly on the packages aimed at ensuring food security.
Heads of various bureaus and professionals in the field have presented research papers in the course of the discussion on the various packages being executed in the state.
Prime Minister Meles said on the part the water-harvesting program should further be expanded and strengthened until the people state became self-reliant in food.
The program would enable the farming community in the state to cultivate backyard vegetables, which would serve it as additional income generating source, by harvesting rainwater, he said.
Meles also lauded the efforts underway to develop farmlands harnessing river waters.
