Kaliti-Gerje Ring Road Opens For Traffic
AddiS Ababa,April 6(ENA)--The 10.1-km ring road that stretches from Kaliti to Gerje here in the metropolis was opened for traffic on Sunday.
Inaugurating the road, Addis Ababa City mayor Arkebe Equbay said the opening of the ring road has a significant importance in alleviating the traffic problems of the metropolis and in accelerating development endeavors.
The City Administration has attached due attention for the road sector, Arkebe said, adding the Addis Ababa Roads Authority will expand the major highways of the capital according to its master plan over the next three years.
The mayor has underscored the need to coordinate expertise, equipment and financial resources to address the long-standing drawbacks that affect the road sector of the City.
Addis Ababa Roads Authority General Manager, Fekadu Haile, said on his part that the Authority has spent 200 million Birr on the construction of the Kaliti-Gerje road, which is part two of the 33.2-km Addis Ababa Ring Road Construction Project.
Part one of the Addis Ababa Ring Road Construction Project includes the 21-km Kaliti-Jimma Ber-Winget road built at a cost of over 330 million Birr.
