UK donates additional 4.5 million pounds to Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, April 3(ENA)-- British Ambassador to Ethiopia said the UK has donated an additional 4.5 million pounds to Ethiopia in response to the current food crisis in the country.
Ambassador Myles Wickstead told reporters here on Thursday that the stated sum was offered recently through the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Food Program (WFP).
Wickstead said two million pounds of the aid is meant for relief food distribution while the balance was allotted to non-food assistance.
The ambassador, meanwhile said, representatives from UK's Department for International Development, Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Ministry of Defence are here in Addis Ababa to conduct a "scoping mission" on the national security sector reform.
He said the team would be here until 4 April, 2003 based on the Country Assistance Plan (CAP) signed between the UK and the Ethiopian Governments in January 2003.
The British Government would assist Ethiopia in training the Police and Security Forces, he said.
