Meles confers with Russian Deputy Defence Minister

Addis Ababa, April 2(ENA)--Prime Minister Meles Zenawi on Wednesday received and held talks with Russian Deputy Minister of Defence, Mikhail Dmitriev.
Meles said on the occasion that the military cooperation between Ethiopia and Russia was in good shape.
The agreements concluded by the two countries on the provision of military training were being implemented smoothly, he said.
Meles also told Dmitriev that the Ethio-Russian bilateral and military cooperation has shown growth, according to State Minister of Defence, Hailemelekot Hailegiorgis, who attended the discussion.
Dmitriev said on his part that the two countries have jointly carried out various activities of great importance since the signing of the military and technical cooperation agreement in 1995.
The Deputy Minister said his visit to Ethiopia was aimed at evaluating and enhancing the Ethio-Russian cooperation in the military and other areas.
