International conference on ground water development to be opened Tuesday here
Addis Ababa, May 23(ENA)-- An international ground water development conference will be opened here in Addis Ababa on Tuesday, the Ministry of Water Resources told ENA.
The three-day conference that will deliberate on ways of the efficient utilization of ground water will be attended by 700 representatives from African, European and Asiatic countries, among others. Ethiopia will participate in the conference.
The Ministry in collaboration with the UNICEF, ECA and the UN Water Africa organized the conference.
Simultaneousely with the conference, an exhibition featuring water works and equipment will be displayed by various companies.
Study papers touching upon the mechanisms Ethiopia should devise to alleviate the problem of subterranean water development will be presented.
The conference is expected to hammer out a way to improving traditional water well drilling. Some 15 traditional water well drillers from the Amhara and South Ethiopia Peoples States will attend the conference.
Some 73 study papers on ground water exploration, technology, as well as relevant experiences and capacity building in the field will also be presented at the conference.
