Police apprehended AAU bomb suspects
Addis Ababa, May 22(ENA)-- The suspects of the recent bomb attack on the Addis Ababa University (AAU) that recently occurred were arrested yesterday, the federal police commission said.
The commission told ENA on Saturday that the two suspects have been arrested through the support of the public and the coordinated efforts of police.
The suspects who go by the names Teshale Tesfaye and Legesse Abetu went into hiding, were among those who hurled a bomb at building No. 502 of the main campus of the university while students were watching TV programs on 29th of April 2004.
It said the explosion of the bomb claimed the life of one student and injured nine others.
The public has been providing valuable information to police that led to the whereabouts of the wanted suspects based on the police announcement issued on 18 may 2004.
Police have lauded the support of the society and pledged to provide detailed information in the appropriate time to the public about the execution of the criminal act.
It said the cooperation of the public with law enforcing authorities has shown beyond a reasonable doubt that Ethiopia will never be a safe haven for terrorists bent on causing havoc and the destruction of public property.
The federal police called upon to the continuing support and cooperation of the public to thwart the terrorist activities of the so called the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) and its puppets.
